WWE had been teasing the possibility of Daniel Bryan turning heel for months now. We all prayed this would happen. It certainly felt like a breath of fresh air to an otherwise stale run of SmackDown Live. We expected him to align himself with Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn as some sort of “indie guys” faction. Well, even if it were to happen, it looks like that idea has been shelved at least until FASTLANE.
The SmackDown Live General Manager confirmed a new #1 contender for the WWE Championship will be decided in a match between Owens and Zayn next week. The two have been teamed up these past few months despite their famous falling out during Ring of Honor’s Final Battle 2009 PPV. Both complained about being screwed during their match at the Royal Rumble this past Sunday. This lead to Bryan giving them another chance at the WWE Championship by pitting them against each other.
Does this mean the YEP! Movement is dead? Maybe, but at least it lasted longer than Y2AJ.
“SmackDown Live” airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on USA Network or you can watch a replay on demand via Hulu – available on iOS, Android, Roku, FireTV, Xbox… pretty much everywhere.
