ABC may have cancelled Designated Survivor last May after 2 seasons, but the show has found a new life on Netflix.
Netflix announced in September 2018 that they picked up the series. Production for Season 3 of Designated Survivor was taken over by showrunner, Neal Baer and Entertainment One media company.
Designated Survivor stars Kiefer Sutherland as a low-level member of the cabinet who is elevated to the Presidency after a terrorist attack during the State of the Union takes out all those ahead of him in succession. The series also stars Maggie Q, Kal Penn, Italia Ricci and Adan Canto.
The synopsis for Season 3 is as follows:
President Kirkman (Sutherland) will face a political reality… campaigning. What does it take to make a leader? What price will he be willing to pay? This season will explore today’s world of campaigning, smear tactics, debates, campaign finance and “fake news.” Democracy, as we know it, will hang in the balance.
All 10 episodes of Season 3 of Designated Survivor will hit Netflix on Friday, June 7, 2018. All episodes of seasons 1 and 2 are currently available on Netflix if you’d like to catch up.
