The launch of Disney’s most ambitious digital service to date, Disney+, was hit with technical issues on launch day. I tried logging into iOS, FireTV, Roku and Android devices this morning but was met with Disney’s version of the Fail Whale – an error message featuring Ralph and Vanellope from Wreck-It Ralph and Wreck-It Ralph 2: Ralph Breaks the Internet
The outage seemed to be intermittent as at times I am able to launch certain titles, while others either take a long time to load or don’t load at all. I was able to stream the X-Men animated series on the Fire TV but was unable to find it on the iPad or iPhone apps. I tried watching Darkwing Duck, but it never loaded onto the screen. I was able to watch The World According to Jeff Goldblum.
So, yeah, some titles opened, but some titles did not. I tried editing profiles but was met by the error screen. I was able to add profiles at times but was met by error screens here and there.
I also noticed there was no way to change User Profiles on the Fire TV, which I felt was a big miss considering most families will watch on the big screen rather than an iPad.
Technical issues aside, I am very excited about the service. I caught the D23 deal earlier in the year and pre-paid for 3 years for the price of 2. I am looking forward to reliving some notalgia through binging some of my Disney Afternoon favorites and introducing my kids to the cartoons and TV shows I grew up with.
